FREE ADMISSION to the Hoover Library on Saturday 8/4!

Just announced…

As part of the Hoover’s Hometown Days festivities, there will be FREE ADMISSION to the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum during operating hours (9-5) on Saturday, 8/4!  Free admission is sponsored by the Hoover Presidential Foundation.

If you haven’t been to the library in a while, or if you’ve been meaning to make it in, Hoover’s Hometown Days will be the perfect time to check it out!  Take a break from the heat and learn about the man himself, Herbert Hoover.

Hoover-Ball National Championships Increases Prize Pool

The top prize for the men’s and the women’s division champions has increased to $300 this year. They, along with the second and third place finishers will receive individual gold, silver or bronze Olympic-style medals from the Iowa Games, a partner of the tournament. Both men’s and women’s championship trophies have been rebuilt this year and will include plaques dating back to 1988 with the winning team’s name and its players for public display.

Online registration is now open at Hoover-Ball.org until Aug. 30 at $20 per player. Walk-up registration on game day will be $30

The Swing Crew

The Swing Crew will be back this year performing Friday night at the fire station!

They’ve been crowd favorites in the past with their fun, funny, and interactive music shows. If you haven’t seen them yet, they play pretty much everything from classic rock to country, pop to swing and more, all interspersed with plenty of humor and crazy antics.  This isn’t your typical acoustic bar band.

They take requests and they’ll be on stage from 8pm to midnight on Friday!

Register now for the Mayor’s Parade!

Registration is now live for the Mayor’s Parade!  The parade will be Saturday, August 4th at 10:00 am.

Start thinking about how you want to decorate for the parade contest!  We have Downtown Dollars to give to the contest winners in each category, so be creative!  This year’s theme is Traditions.  As always, walking and lightly tossing candy are allowed.

A registration table will be set up the morning of the parade at the Lions Field shelter, but if you pre-register before July 31st, it guarantees that your organization is properly announced when you pass the stage on Main Street.

The parade line up will take place on W Orange St. from the intersection of N Maple St. to the west.  Line up is between 8:45 am & 9:45 am, but walkers should arrive no later than 9:30 am.  There will be staff there to direct you.
